Directions: 1 lb Dried pinto beans
1 tb Garlic, sliced
2 tb Chili Powder (Red)
2 sm Red peppers
1 ts Salt
Remove dirt, rocks, insects, and etc. from the beans. Wash beans in
several changes of water. Place all ingredients in a pan and cover
with water and cook over low heat until beans are tender, about 2 1/2
hours. Caution: to avoid burning the beans, you must add water from
time to time. Sometimes I soak mine for about two hours before
cooking to avoid having to add so much water. To change recipe to
Juan's Frijoles Borrachos (Drunken Beans), add one can of either Lone
Star or Pearl Beer to recipe with 4-5 Sprigs of fresh cilantro.
Remember, real Texas beans HAVE NO MEAT. Serve with fresh tortillas
and hot sauce.

is browned and the vegetables are tender. Drain off any excess fat.
Add the tomatoes, chili powder, and simmer briefly. Salt to taste.
Mix the meat mixture with the rice, and place in Green beans and bamboo shoots * Green beans should be french cut.
** Bamboo shoots shoud be cut into 1/2-inch pieces.
Cover and microwave frozen green beans in 1-qt casserole on high
(100%) until tender, 6 to 7 minutes, drain.
