Additional Information
Each Equal packet or 1/4 teaspoons of Equal for Recipes is equivalent in
sweetness to two teaspoons of sugar
Each Equal tablet is equivalent to one teaspoon of sugar.
Equal Spoonful measures just like sugar.
Equal sweetens like sugar, but its cooking properties are different. Equal
works very well in fruit pies; however, cakes, cookies and pastries depend
on sugar for bulk, tenderness, and browning, properties that sugar
alternatives don't have.
Remember, sweetness is in the eye of the beholder: adjust the amount of
Equal in your recipes to get just the right taste.
Experiment with Equal and become a gourmet chef. For example, Equal works
very well in fruit pie fillings.
When cooking with Equal, use recipes designed for Equal or add to recipes
after removing from heat to maintain sweetness. Prolonged cooking at high
heat levels may result in some loss of sweetness.
Addendum:
Equal is a Nutrasweet product and Sweet-N-Low is a saccharine product. It
is generally preferred that one uses Nutrasweet as saccharine has been
shown to cause cancer in laboratory tests. :( Besides, it's usually about
1/4 the cost!! :D
Of course, in 1994 the American Diabetes Association lifted the total ban
of sugar for diabetics and has adopted the dietary exchange program. A
