Directions: Have eggs and milk at room temperature. Cream sugar, eggs, salt and shortening together. Add baking powder and vanilla. Add vinegar to milk, dissolve soda in milk, add alternately with flour to creamed mixture. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle top with sugar. Bake at 350 F. for 8-10 minutes. One teaspoon nutmeg or 1 teaspoon lemon flavor can be added sometimes for a different taste, if desired.
