Skillet Buttermilk Biscuits



Ingredients:
4 Cup(s) Vegetable Oil
1 Cup(s) Whole Wheat Flour
1 Cup(s) All Purpose Flour
1 1/2 Teaspoon(s) Baking Soda
1/4 Teaspoon(s) Salt
1/4 Cup(s) Vegetable Shortening
3/4 Cup(s) Buttermilk
Directions: Pour 1" of oil into a medium size skillet. Heat to 370 degrees. Combine the flours, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the vegetable shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the buttermilk. Mix lightly with a fork until the mixture clings together and forms a soft ball of dough. Break off pieces of the mixture, 1 per finished roll. Roll each piece into a 1" ball. Flatten the balls. Fry the biscuits until golden on each side (3-4 minutes total). Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
