Directions: This is one of the few breads I actually like more when it is made in a bread machine. This recipe is enough for one 1 1/2 pound loaf.
1. In a small cup or bowl add the yeast and pinch of sugar to the lukewarm water. Let it stand for a couple of minutes, then stirr it until the yeast is dissolved into the water. Put the yeast mixture in a warm place for 5-10 minutes, or until it doubles in bulk.
2. Place the butter and all dry ingredients in the bottom of your bread machine. Make a well in the pile of dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture.
3. Set the bread machine on a regular cycle, and a light or medium crust.
Serve the hot bread with butter, cream cheese and/or jam. The bread also slices nicely when it is co
ol.
