Lentils with italian sausage Clean lentils well by soaking them briefly and changing the water at least
once. Put them in a 2-1/2-quart saucepan, add cold water to cover, and
bring to a boil. Lower heat to simmer and cook until not quite done, about
45 minutes.
Meanwh Savory carrots In a medium saucepan, combine carrots and boiling water to cover. Cook,
covered, over moderate heat for 7 minutes after water returns to a boil.
Drain well. In a medium frypan, melt butter over low heat. Add carrots,
increase heat to moderate, and Maple glazed carrots Peel carrots; but into sticks. Pour the orange juice into a 4 cup
microwave safe dish. Heat 1 minute at high . Add the carrots and the
orange rind. Stir to coat the carrots with the orange juice. Cover
and microwave 8 to 9 minutes at high. S Lentils brown rice & bacon Heat oil in large nonstick saucepan. Add pepper, onion and garlic; saute 5
minutes. Add lentils, rice, bacon, water and broth, simmer, covered,
stirring occasionally, 35 minutes until lentils and rice are tender. Remove

Cut each piece lengthwise into quarters or, if the carrots are very
large, into sixths or eighths. All the pieces should be about the

medium-size frypan; add beer and carrots. Cook slowly until tender,

In saucepan, combine tomato soup, oil, sugar, vinegar, mustard and

a separate pot. Add the rice, salt, and spices, and mix well. In a pan,

carrots with remaining ingredients. Simmer, covered, 3 minutes.
Uncover and simmer an additional 2 to 3 minutes, until nearly all the
liquid is evaporated. Makes 5 servings, a Lentils with zucchini Place lentils, water & turmeric in a pot over medium heat & bring to a
boil. Continue cooking, removing the froth from the top from time to time.
In a separate pot, heat half the ghee. Saute onion & garlic till golden.

oil is hot, put in the cumin and mustard seeds. As soon as the mustard
seeds begin to pop, this takes just a few seconds, put in the asafetida and
the red chilies. Stir once. Carrots and onions in creamy wine sauce Melt the butter in a large pan over medium heat. When it stops foaming,
add carrots, onions and raisins. Cook, stirring, for 4 minutes. Add salt, pepper,
cayenne, thyme, bay leaf, and wine. Mix well. Cover the pan and simmer
45 to 50 minutes or un Cool carrots Peel and dice. Cook in salted water until tender; drain. Combine remaining
ingredients in saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. When
mixture comes to a boil, pour over carrots. Cool, then chill. Marinate for

the vegetables are li Stir fry lentils and beans Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok and saute the onion, celery and
mushrooms until brown. Add the remaining ingredients and cook, stirring
until heated through.

Lentils with lovage Soften the chopped shallots in a little butter without colouring them. Stir
in the lentils. Add a handful of chopped lovage, the sprig of thyme,
orange peel and stock or unsalted water to cover well. Simmer until
tender. Drain off and reduce Vegetable barley stew with lentils Combine the barley and 4 cups of water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a
boil over medium heat and cook for 5 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and
simmer for 30 minutes, then remove the pan from the heat.
Put a heavy stockpot over medium heat f Gobi dal - lentils with cauliflower Wash the Lentils well and drain. Heat the Ghee or Oil in a large
saucpan and fry the Onions. When they soften add the Chili, Pepper,
Cumin, Coriander, and Turmeric. Stir in well and cook for 30 seconds
or so. Add the Lentils. Stir well to ensur Sweet red lentils [Using vegetable bouillon is easier than cooking the broth yourself.]
Fry onions and garlic until soft, add cinnamon, lentils, chili, and ginger
and cook for a minute. Add stock, hot water, chili powder, and bay leaves.

simmer about 30-40 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Serve over brown rice (or

The vegetables used were the ones I happened to Pakistani rice and lentils Soak the lentils in cold water to cover for 2 hours. Drain well. Combine
the lentils, rice and onions in a large casserole. Stir in remaining
ingredients, then cover. Bake in a preheated 425 F. oven for twenty-five

microwave on high 9 to 12 minutes, or until carrots are tender, stirring
every 4 minutes. Let stand covered, 3 minutes before serving. Food

boil and simmer for 30 min or until tender but whole. Add remaining

Typed and Karotten in bier gedunstet (carrots in beer) Peel and slice carrots into long, thin slices. Melt butter in medium-size
frypan; add beer and carrots. Cook slowly until tender, stirring
frequently. Stir in salt and sugar. Cook for another 2 minutes and serve
hot.
Marinated carrots Peel carrots, slice at an angle and cook until crisp. Slice onion in half, then slice into rings 1/4 inch thick. Pour tomato soup, vinegar, and granulated sugar over cooked carrots and onions. Add salt and pepper to taste. Stir and chill. Keep in refri Bombay rice & lentils 1. Saute onion in oil in large skillet until soft.
2. Add rice; cook, stirring, several minutes.
3. Combine tomato paste, water, cinnamon and lentils in a bowl; add to
rice.
4. Bring mixture to a boil; cover tightly, reduce heat and simmer 3 Spiced carrots Cook spices in oil in a small nonstick skillet over low heat, stirring,
until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cool slightly, then
