Ingredients: 4 12 in bamboo skewers 1 mushroom topping: 1 Pound(s) mushroom, large; fresh 1/4 Cup(s) oil 1/4 Teaspoon(s) pepper 2 Tablespoon(s) margarine; softened 1/2 Ounce(s) worcestershire sauce 2 Tablespoon(s) fresh parsley; chopped 1 toast: 1/12 Ounce(s) garlic powder 1 Pound(s) french bread; cut into 1 in diag slices |
Directions: Heat grill. Soak skewers in water for 15 minutes. In medium bowl, combine
mushrooms, oil and pepper; toss to coat. Thread mushrooms on skewers.
When ready to barbecue, p
lace mushrooms on gas grill over medium heat or
charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals. Cook 15 to 20 minutes or
until dark brown, turning occasionally. Remove mushrooms from grill.
Thinly slice and combine with remaining ingredients. Toss until margarine
melts.
In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup margarine and garlic powder; blend well.
Spread on both sides of bread. Place slices on gas grill over medium heat
or on a charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals. Cook 1 1/2 to 2
minutes on each side or until light golden brown. Spoon mushroom mixture
over toast; serve immediately.
BROILER DIRECTIONS: Prepare mushrooms as directed. Broil 4 to 6 inches
from heat 15 to 20 minutes or until dark brown, turning occasionally.
Prepare mushroom topping as directed. Broil prepared bread slices 4 to 6
inches from heat for about 3 minutes or until light golden brown, turning
once. Spoon mushroom mixture over toast; serve immediately.
Al also likes to saute the mushrooms in the garlic butter after all of the
above steps have been completed for the mushrooms.
