In a large pot, saute onions in olive oil on medium-high, stirring often, until translucent and soft, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and saute for 2 to 3 minutes. substance, though the Native Americans on the plains would have used wild

remaining crushed cookies and margarine; mix well. Press lightly in bottom
of 13 x 9-inch pan. Refrigerate 10-15 minutes. Spread half of the ice cream
in prepared pan. Spoon pie Pancetta green beans Cook beans in large pot of boiling salted water until crisp-tender, about 4
minutes. Drain. Transfer to bowl of ice water; cool 5 minutes. Drain.
Transfer beans to paper towels and pat dry.
Heat large skillet over medium heat. Add pancetta and saut until Green tomatillo chicken 1. Remove chicken skin. Pour oil into 10-12" frying pan over
medium-high heat. Add chicken and brown, turning as needed, 8-12

fragrant and toasted, about 1 minute. Mix in 2 1/4 cups water and salt.

heat. Mix in couscous. Cover and let s Lentil, garbanzo bean and tomato salad Combine 2-1/2 cups water, lentils, diced carrots, and bay leaf in
heavy medium saucepan. Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer
until lentils are just tender, about 25 minutes. Drain; transfer to

Mix all remaining Gujerati-style green beans Trim the beans & cut into 1" lengths. Blanch, drain & rinse immediately in
cold water. Set aside.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When hot, put in the mustard
seeds. When the pop, add the garlic & stir until t Green beans Remove ends from beans. Leave beans whole or cut crosswise into 1" pieces.
Place beans in 1" salted water (1/2 ts salt to 1 c water). Bring to a boil
and cook uncovered for 5 minutes. Cover and cook until tender, 5 to 10
minutes lon Hamburger kidney bean casserole Brown and drain ground beef. To beef add onion, garlic power and chilli powder. Cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add tomatoes, kidney beans (with liquid) and rice. Mix well and pour into a casserole dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake covered a Hot chedder bean dip Stir all ingredients until well mixed. Spoon into small overproof dish. Bake at 350 degrees F 30 minutes or until bubbly. Makes 2 1/2 cups.
Budget bean pot on the run If you dont have a ham bone, or ham hock, a piece of smoky bacon or smoked sausage will suffice.
In large saucepan, combine ham bone, tomato juice, onion, green pepper and
cloves. Bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove bone from pan.
Cut aw African green pepper and spinach Cook and stir onion and green pepper in oil in 3-quart saucepan until onion
is tender. Add tomato and spinach. Cover and simmer until spinach is
tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in salt, pepper and peanut butter. Heat just
until hot.
Black bean and rice soup Rinse and sort beans, drain well. Place beans and water in a large kettle
and bring to a boil over high heat. Cover, reduce heat; simmer until beans
absorb most of the water, about 30 to 45 minutes. Add stock and continue
simmering, covered, Black bean chili SORT THROUGH THE BEANS and remove any small stones. Rinse them well, cover them generously with water, and let them soak overnight. Next day, drain the beans, cover them with fresh water by a couple of inches and bring them to a boil with the bay leaf. Lo White bean and pepper salad 1. Stir together lemon juice, olive oil, sugar, dill weed (or crushed fennel seed), pepper, and garlic in a medium mixing bowl.
2. Add beans, green or sweet red pepper, cucumber, and green onions. Toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2 to 24 hours. 1-pot vegetable bean casserole In nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat; cook garlic, onions
and carrots, covered, for about 10 minutes or until softened. Stir in
vinegar, rosemary, pepper and hot pepper flakes; cook, covered, for about
15 minutes or until onions a Italian white bean salad Combine all ingredients and toss well.
Refrigerate for several hours before serving.
Bean & tvp burritos Drain, rinse and cook the beans until tender (70-90 minutes) in 3
cups of water with the bay leaf and garlic.
Drain the beans, but reserve the liquid in case it is needed later
to thin the filling mixture.
Combine the TVP, hot water, hot bea Cuban black bean dip #2 In blender or food processor,place all ingredients. Cover and process until
smooth. Garnish as desired. Serve with tortilla chips,jicama sticks, or
other fresh vegies. Makes 2 1/2 Cups.
Apple crunch muffins Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon into mixing bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until fine crumbs form. Combine egg and milk. Add to dry ingredients all at once, stirring just enough to moisten. Stir in apples. Spoon b Green chicken chili Rinse the chicken with cold water.
Put the chicken, 1 onion chopped in half, in a stock pot and cover with enough cold water to just cover the chicken. Toss in 3 cloves of garlic, and the thyme. Allow the mixture to slowly come to a boil over medium heat. Hungarian mixed bean goulash Heat 2 Tbsp. vegetable broth in large saucepan over medium heat. Add onions & bell pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, 5 minutes. Add small amounts of water as necessary, about a tablespoon at a time, to prevent sticking. Add remaining ingredients, exc Filet mignon with green peppercorn cream sauce Boil stock in small saucepan until reduced to 3/4 cup, about 7 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt butter in large skillet over medium high heat. Season
steaks with salt and pepper. Cook steaks to desired doneness, about 4
minutes per side for medium rare. Transf Tomato and green onion rice Heat olive oil in a heavy small saucepan over medium-high heat. Add rice and stir until rice is coated with oil and slightly translucent,
about 2 minutes. Add chicken broth and bring to simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover saucepan and cook until broth is Rhubarb crunch Spread rhubarb out evenly in greased 11x7 pan or glass baking dish.
Combine in a sauce pan:
white sugar
corn starch
water
Cook

Stir until thick and clear.
Add vanilla.
Pour over rhubarb.
Combine remaining ingredients and sprinkle over mixture.
Bake Sassy bean and bulgur Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease 4 x 8 baking pan with
sunflower oil. Combine all ingredients together except spinach leaves. Mix
well. Transfer to a baking pan and place in oven for 20 minutes. Serve on
bed of spinach leaves.
F Bean and garlic dip * Pinto beans can be home cooked or canned.

Makes 2 cups of dip.
Hot spicy bean curd Heat oil in a wok & fry the onion, garlic & chili for 30 seconds. Add
salted beans & bean curd, fry gently till bean curd turns golden. Add
the rest of the ingredients & cook until the sauce thickens. Serve
hot over noodles or frie Ann fowler's toffee crunch cake 1. Cut pound cake horizontally into 3 equal-sized layers, set aside.
2. In a chilled large deep bowl, beat the cream with chilled beaters
until stiff peaks form. Gradually add the butterscotch syrup, folding
gently.
3. Place the first cake la Bbq green beans Tie beans up with wet cotton twine. Bundles should be 1-2 inches in diameter. Tie it twice or more in case the twine burns.
Drizzle a bit of olive oil and season with a little salt. Throw it on the BBQ but keep an eye on it. Overcooked beans are yucky.
Th Cream of green chili soup Blend together in a pot, salt and pepper to taste. Heat and serve.
