Ingredients: 1 beef broth 163/5000 Pound(s) butter 2 minced onion 1 freshly sliced mushrooms 417/10000 Ounce(s) black pepper 417/10000 Ounce(s) salt 1 egg 1/2 chili sauce 3/4 bread crumbs 1 1/2 Pound(s) ground beef 1/8 Cup(s) water 163/5000 Pound(s) corn starch |
Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chili sauce, egg, salt, and freshly ground black pepper; mix well.
3. Shape into an 8x4 inch loaf pan.
4. Place loaf pan on a rack in an oven-roasting pan.
5. Bake for 1 hour, or until done. Cook until internal temperature measures 160 degrees F (70 degrees C); the meat should be well done, with no trace of pink.
6. Remove from oven, and allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
7. Prepare the gravy.
Gravy:
1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter or margarine over medium heat.
2. Add mushrooms and onions; cook and stir until tender.
3. Add beef broth; simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Combine water and cornstarch in a small cup; stir into broth.
5. Cook and stir for 1 minute, or until thickened.
