Berghoff's Chicago Beer Burger



Ingredients:
1 to taste pepper
1 to taste salt
417/10000 Ounce(s) worcestershire sauce
1/2 Teaspoon(s) hot pepper sauce
1 1/2 Pound(s) ground chuck
1 10 3/4 oz can condensed cream of chicken coup
1 Cup(s) beer
4 hamburger bun
1 large thinly sliced onion
1 Tablespoon(s) unsalted butter
4 Slice(s) 1/2 oz each slice cheddar cheese
Directions: 1. For onions, melt butter over medium-high heat in large, heavy saucepan. Add onions; cook stirring frequently, until tender, 5 to 6 minutes. Add 3/4 cup beer, sugar and salt. Cook until beer has been absorbed by onions and they begin to brown lightly, 16 to 18 minutes. Add remaining 1/4 cup beer; heat to simmer. Keep warm while preparing burgers. 2. For burgers, heat gas grill on high or prepare charcoal grill. Gently but thoroughly combine ground chuck, beer, pepper sauce, Worchestire sauce, salt and pepper in large bowl. Gently form mixture into 4 patties 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick. The patties should hold together firmly, but don't compact them or handly them longer than necessary. 3. Grill burgers uncovered over high heat 1 minute per side. Move burger to medium heat; cook 4 to 5 minutes per side or medium doneness. 4 Toast the buns at the same time at the edge of the grill. Serve burgers hot on toasted buns, topped with some of the beer-braised onions and slice of cheese.
